MDF Boards

MDF (Medium-Density Fibreboard) is an engineered wood panel manufactured by bonding wood fibres with resin under heat and pressure. Its smooth, uniform surface makes it suitable for furniture manufacturing, cabinetry, decorative panels and interior joinery.

MDF boards are widely used for modular kitchens, wardrobes, cabinets, shelves, furniture components, wall panelling, decorative mouldings and interior fit-outs. The appropriate board grade, thickness and finish depend on the intended application and project requirements.

MDF is manufactured from bonded wood fibres, while plywood is made from layers of wood veneer. MDF offers a smooth, consistent surface that is well suited to painting, laminating and detailed machining. Plywood may be more appropriate for certain structural or moisture-exposed applications, depending on its grade and specifications. The right choice depends on the required strength, finish, environment and installation method.

Standard interior MDF is not waterproof and should be protected from direct water exposure. Moisture-resistant MDF grades are available for certain humid interior applications, including suitable kitchen and bathroom furniture. However, moisture-resistant MDF is not automatically waterproof; exposed edges, surfaces and joints may require appropriate sealing and finishing.
